Zach (left) and Ben (right) the year I shifted from a hobby to a business. Zach was starting middle school (6th grade) and Ben was starting Kdg.
Often times I get asked the question, "What does Z&B stand for?".  Well, for those who may be wondering, it stands for Zach & Ben, my two boys whom I love so much. They are my inspiration for starting my own business. Throughout my career, I worked long hours continually doing more and more to help families in need. I was so busy helping other families that I didn't realize my own family needed me too. My roles often allowed for flexibility, so I would go to their field trips and attend their sporting and school events but I often wasn't able to do the little things that make a big difference in their lives, things like get them ready in the morning or make plans for them to hang out with friends.

As a business owner and woman entrepreneur, I'm now able to get them ready in the morning and to do their homework with them after school. Although those times can often be filled with tons of stress,  I treasure each moment. Yes there are times when I rely on our vast support network because I have an early morning or late afternoon meeting, but those times are the exception, not the norm. With the name Z&B, I'm constantly reminded of why I started my business and what I hope to gain for my family by doing what I love.

Our family shortly after the business started showing consistent revenue & was ready for a support team to be brought on. Zach was a Freshman and Ben in 3rd grade. (Yes- it takes time to start a business....as an aside, this was also a few months after having to make a decision to "stay at it" or go back to work full-time.)
Since I started my business, the boys have attended and hosted many play dates, as well as participated in lots of clubs and activities.  Sure, they could have done those things while I was working a full time job, but I was so busy that I didn't have the energy to coordinate any of it.  Life as a business owner is still busy, but it's without the worry of what a boss or others will think about the decisions I make.  I now think about what my husband and the boys will think.   Speaking of my husband, Scott is amazing! It's because of him that I was able to work all the crazy hours I did throughout my career.  He did, and still does, a lot to keep our household running.  His support and belief in me and my business helps me be the best mom I can be.  For my clients, that's a great thing because that means I come to them fully prepared to give 110% to helping their business succeed!

What's pretty cool is that my boys are observing all I do and learning life skills along the way,  Ben, my youngest, is always telling everyone about the many businesses he owns.  If you have a problem, he has a business to solve it. One after spending hours filming a series of
videos for the Strategize Your Success e-course, Ben went in front of the camera and started making his own film. Another time, I was collecting props for a photo booth we were doing at a client's banquet.  The boys helped me pose for a picture I posted on Facebook sharing highlights of the fun that was to come at the event.  When my business first started, my oldest, Zach, helped me edit things before they were revealed for others to see.  He was great at finding commas and other things I'm often missing. Once he got to high school, he began helping me get my courses online.

For over 20 years, I worked for companies that help families. I'm grateful that I now own a company that helps families while also helping my own family.  At Z&B Consulting, I help businesses be successful so they can enjoy special times with their family and so they can create special times for the families they serve.  Thank you for allowing me to come into your life to provide support and to help you ensure the success of your business and your family!  It's nice to be on this journey of life together.
