How much time do you spend in your genius zone? You know, that place where you are on fire and loving every minute of it. That place where you could work for hours and not realize you did. For me, my genius zone is when I am engaged with other people sharing my knowledge and experiences and knowing I'm making a difference. I LOVE being there and the more I see the positive impact I'm having, the longer I want to stay because I'm energized. Throughout my career, this has always been the case for me. Regardless of the role or company, my favorite times were always those when I was engaging with others and helping them be the best they could be. Interestingly enough, it's in those moments that people love working with me the most. Who would have thought that another sign you are working within your genius zone is that others love you being there as much as you do? Unfortunately, it wasn't until recently that I made these discoveries. For years, I went through my workdays wearing tons of different hats that I was given in my roles. When I started my business, the number of hats actually increased. As many of the hats went on, something different happened. I wasn't happy, I didn't LOVE it, I couldn't wait for the time to end and I was drained by the time it did. The people I worked with also didn't enjoy being around me as much when I was wearing the other hats. It's not that they didn't like me or enjoy hanging with me. However, they didn't like that it took me so long to get done the things they needed me to do so that they could move forward and do their job effectively. So, what is your genius zone? Where do you LOVE to spend time? Share that with me in the comments below. Chances are your genius zone is quite different than mine and you may be a great candidate for the new "interview with" series I'm developing as a resource for my clients and followers.
